Engagements are one of the most beautiful moments in life – and the engagement ring is often its symbol. In 2025, we are witnessing fascinating developments in the world of jewellery – from coloured gemstones to ethically sourced diamonds to handcrafted originals.
As a jeweler who works with clients on a bespoke basis, I understand how important it is for a ring to not only dazzle with its appearance, but to truly tell the story of your love. In this article, I will introduce you to the latest trends, practical tips and insights into creating an engagement ring that is as unique as the two of you.
Why think about an engagement ring right now?
Are you planning an engagement or have you just started looking for "the right" ring? Then this article is for you. An engagement ring is worn every day - and therefore it should not only be beautiful, but also pleasant, personal and long-lasting.
In 2025, couples emphasize meaning, ethics, aesthetics, and personal touch – often wanting to break away from the classics and create something they will be proud to pass on.
Engagement ring trends for 2025
1. Colored gemstones instead of a classic diamond
Engagement rings with colored stones are really trending this year – and it’s no wonder. Sapphires, emeralds, rose quartz, or light green tourmalines bring individuality and energy that a classic diamond often lacks.
Each stone has its own meaning – emerald resonates with love and loyalty, sapphire with stability, rose quartz with softness and femininity.
All of the engagement rings I design can be set with the stone of your choice - whether you decide based on color, symbolism, or intuition.
2. Celebrity-inspired solitaires
Large center stones in simple settings are making a comeback. Statement solitaires (like those worn by Dua Lipa or Kylie Jenner) stand out with their purity and elegance – and can also be modern, perhaps in combination with an unusual cut or asymmetry.
3. Unconventional shapes, asymmetry and vintage details
Rings with cuts such as marquise, oval or pear, set horizontally or with an asymmetrical accompaniment of small stones, are a hit this year.
Vintage style, filigree details and antique-looking designs are also growing in popularity – especially among romantic souls.
4. Ethics and sustainability
More and more clients are asking: Where does the stone come from? Is the metal recycled? Is it ethical ? And that's a good thing – because even in the world of jewelry, the footprint we leave behind matters.
Obtaining certification that officially confirms that a jeweler is exclusively fair trade is a very expensive and complex process that only large companies can afford.
Still, I try to follow a path that makes real sense:
1) I work in a small, custom volume, which naturally significantly reduces the environmental impact compared to commercial production.
2) I use mostly recycled silver and gold, i.e. re-melted and processed metals that were already in circulation - for example from older jewelry, objects or coins.
3) When it comes to stones , for me personally, quality and origin are crucial. I pay attention to where the stones come from and try to work with suppliers who have direct links to the mines – without unnecessary intermediaries and with a higher level of transparency.
Stone lovers often appreciate that I love mineralogy - so it's no problem to get very specific, rare or unusual stones on request.
I also offer the option of using lab-grown diamonds, which are visually and chemically identical to natural diamonds, but are created in laboratory conditions without interfering with the landscape. However, their production is relatively energy-intensive. So it is important to take this fact into account with these stones.
How is a custom ring made?
I design each ring in collaboration with you - you are part of the creative process.
At the beginning, we will talk about your ideas, style, relationship, and what you expect from a ring. I will suggest different variants for you to choose from – and we will create a unique piece of jewelry that will not be repeated.
You can choose:
- concrete stone and grinding stone,
- type of metal (silver, gold, platinum),
- minimalist or distinctive style,
- optionally supplemented with a personal engraving, symbol or secret message.
Size measurement – personally and accurately
An engagement ring should fit perfectly. Not only on the engagement day, but also years later. That's why I don't use universal tables or approximate estimates from the internet - every finger is different, not only in size, but also in the shape of the joint, inclination or changes during the day.
The best option is a personal consultation, during which I will professionally measure your finger size - I have years of experience and thanks to that, the ring will really fit you.
However, if you are planning on giving the ring as a surprise, there are a few options:
Together we will try to estimate the right size based on a few questions that will help me get my bearings. There are certain common sizes depending on the type of body or hand, and from experience I know that we usually get it right with clients. And if the ring doesn't fit perfectly - as part of the service, I will adjust it to the right size for you free of charge.
An engagement ring deserves precision and care – and you deserve peace of mind that we will fine-tune everything to perfection.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a custom-made engagement ring cost?
The price is influenced by the material, type of stone and complexity of processing. It usually ranges between 20–45,000 CZK. I am happy to adapt to your budget.
Can I bring my own stone?
Yes – if it is technically suitable for implementation, I will be happy to work with it. But first, we will evaluate it together.
How long does production take?
On average 3-6 weeks, depending on the materials chosen. I recommend ordering the ring at least 2 months before the planned engagement.
Do you also design engagement + wedding sets?
Yes – many clients want both rings to match. I will create a set design that is harmonious but still unique.
Personal conclusion
An engagement ring is not just a piece of jewelry – it is the first physical symbol of your “I do.” I believe that every love deserves a unique shape, color, and energy.
If you want to create an engagement ring that is not only beautiful but also personal, I will be happy to guide you through the process. With emotion, experience, and respect for your story.
